Air Fryer Crumbed Chicken Schnitzel

All the crunch of a classic schnitzel, without the oil splatter. Your air fryer does the heavy lifting.

Serves: 4 | Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 12 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breast fillets, butterflied and pounded thin
  • ½ cup plain flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1½ cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil spray
  • Lemon wedges and salad to serve

Method

  1. Set up a crumbing station: flour in one bowl, beaten egg in another, panko mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper in a third.
  2. Coat each chicken fillet in flour, then egg, then press firmly into the panko mixture.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 200°C. Spray basket with olive oil.
  4. Cook schnitzels for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.
  5. Serve with lemon wedges, chips, and a simple green salad.

Tips

  • Pound the chicken evenly so it cooks at the same rate throughout.
  • Don't overcrowd the basket — cook in batches if needed for maximum crunch.
