Ready to give breadmaking a go? Here's a simple white bread recipe for beginners, made easy in a stand mixer.
What you'll need:
- 500g strong flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 7g dried yeast
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 300g water
How it's made:
- Attach a dough hook to your stand mixer.
- Add ingredients (flour, salt, yeast, oil, water) into the mixer bowl.
- Mix on speed 1 for 2 minutes, then on speed 2 for 8 minutes.
- Ensure the dough is flexible and homogenous.
- Cover with a tea towel and leave to prove for an hour, or until doubled in size.
- Transfer the dough from the mixer bowl to a lightly floured workspace.
- Gently pull the edges into the centre.
- Roll the dough over and make into a loaf shape.
- Place the dough into the proofing basket/loaf tin, making sure the seal is placed on the top.
- Cover with a damp tea towel.
- Leave to prove for an hour or until doubled in size.
- Pre-heat the oven to 220 C.
- Place a small oven proof container filled with boiling water in the bottom of your oven.
- Remove the tea towel and spray the dough with salted water.
- Bake for 25 minutes at 220 C or until the loaf sounds hollow when the bottom is tapped. Leave to cool.
- Serve.
